What does it mean that you work as a product engineer?

It means Ramón takes responsibility for the product, not just for the tickets. He decides what the first version should do and what it can skip, builds it, ships it, and keeps it running afterwards. In practice a client hands over one thing, their mobile app, their website or platform, or their AI chatbot, and gets one person accountable for it instead of a designer, a front-end developer, a backend developer and a project manager who all need coordinating. The engineering is still senior: 13+ years in production, unit and end-to-end tests, code review, CI, and LLM evaluation before a model answers a real user.

Can you take over an app or website that already exists?

Yes, that is a large part of the work. Typical cases: the developer left, the agency finished and disappeared, or the codebase has drifted after years of small changes. Ramón starts with an audit of the code and architecture and gives you a written verdict on what is worth keeping, what needs rewriting and what it will cost to run from here. After that he can take over as the product's ongoing owner: maintenance, releases, new features and a roadmap written in plain language. You keep the code, the accounts and the keys throughout.

Can you integrate AI or LLMs into an existing product?

Yes. It depends on scope, but a focused MVP (one core flow, real data, and a polished UI) typically takes around 4 to 8 weeks of full-time work. Do you have experience with RAG and AI agents?

Are you available for remote work, and what time zone are you in?

Ramón works fully remote from Guayaquil, Ecuador, in the GMT-5 time zone, the same business hours as US Eastern/Central time, with solid overlap for Latin America, the US, and (in the morning) Europe. He has worked as an independent contractor since 2019 with clients in Ecuador, the United States, Spain, and Mexico, and is available for long-term, full-time engagements.

What is your tech stack and which technologies do you specialize in?

On the web: React, Next.js, Astro, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, plus headless CMS platforms (Sanity, Contentful, DatoCMS). On mobile: React Native and Expo, with native Swift/Kotlin when needed. For AI: RAG, embeddings, and LLM integration with the OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs. On the backend: Node.js, NestJS, Fastify, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Supabase, and Prisma/Drizzle. The philosophy is depth over breadth: a few stacks shipped reliably rather than a long list of buzzwords.

Do you work with clients in the US and Europe, and in English?

Yes. Ramón works in both English and Spanish and has delivered projects for clients in the United States, Spain, Mexico, and Ecuador, including roles with companies in Miami and Madrid. Remote collaboration across time zones (async updates, clear written communication, and regular calls) is the default way he works.

Can you build both web and mobile apps?

Yes. That is the core of the offering. Ramón builds web apps (React/Next.js) and cross-platform mobile apps (React Native/Expo) for iOS and Android, often sharing logic between them, and handles the backend and database too.
