Hiring, AI, MVPs & how I work
01

How do I hire a freelance React Native developer in Latin America?

Ramón Chancay is a freelance React Native developer based in Guayaquil, Ecuador (GMT-5), available for fully remote work. He is Top Rated on Upwork with 100% Job Success and has shipped iOS and Android apps to the App Store. The fastest way to start is to email hola@ramonchancay.me or message him on WhatsApp with a short description of your product and timeline; he replies in English or Spanish and can usually scope the first call within a few days.

02

Can you integrate AI or LLMs into an existing product?

Yes. Ramón builds AI features on top of existing web and mobile apps — RAG pipelines, embeddings and vector search, conversational agents, and direct LLM integrations using the OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs, often via the Vercel AI SDK or LangChain. He has shipped this in production: an AI chatbot for credit dispute letters (Credit Helper), a B2B platform for conversational agents with a vector knowledge base (Clona), and an autonomous news agent that rewrites and publishes content on a schedule (TechBlog AI Agent).

03

How much does an MVP cost and how long does it take?

It depends on scope, but a focused MVP — one core flow, real data, and a polished UI — typically takes around 4 to 8 weeks of full-time work. Pricing is quoted per project once the scope is clear rather than as a fixed rate, so the first step is a short call to define what the MVP must do (and, just as importantly, what it can skip). Because Ramón works end to end across web, mobile, backend, and AI, an MVP can usually be built without coordinating multiple contractors.

04

Do you have experience with RAG and AI agents?

Yes. Ramón has built retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems with embeddings and vector search, and autonomous and multi-agent setups in production. Examples include Clona, a B2B platform for AI conversational agents with a vector-search knowledge base, and TechBlog AI Agent, a dual-agent system that discovers news from 20+ RSS feeds, rewrites it, and publishes automatically every few hours with PostgreSQL deduplication.

05

Are you available for remote work, and what time zone are you in?

Ramón works fully remote from Guayaquil, Ecuador, in the GMT-5 time zone — the same business hours as US Eastern/Central time, with solid overlap for Latin America, the US, and (in the morning) Europe. He has worked as an independent contractor since 2019 with clients in Ecuador, the United States, Spain, and Mexico, and is available for long-term, full-time engagements.

06

What is your tech stack and which technologies do you specialize in?

On the web: React, Next.js, Astro, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, plus headless CMS platforms (Sanity, Contentful, DatoCMS). On mobile: React Native and Expo, with native Swift/Kotlin when needed. For AI: RAG, embeddings, and LLM integration with the OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini APIs. On the backend: Node.js, NestJS, Fastify, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Supabase, and Prisma/Drizzle. The philosophy is depth over breadth — a few stacks shipped reliably rather than a long list of buzzwords.

07

Do you work with clients in the US and Europe, and in English?

Yes. Ramón works in both English and Spanish and has delivered projects for clients in the United States, Spain, Mexico, and Ecuador, including roles with companies in Miami and Madrid. Remote collaboration across time zones — async updates, clear written communication, and regular calls — is the default way he works.

08

Can you build both web and mobile apps?

Yes — that is the core of the offering. Ramón builds web apps (React/Next.js) and cross-platform mobile apps (React Native/Expo) for iOS and Android, often sharing logic between them, and handles the backend and database too. Shipped examples include Living Motions (Next.js + React Native), RevUp (React Native, live on the App Store), and OTV GO (Next.js + Expo streaming platform).

09

How do we start working together, and what does the process look like?

Start by emailing hola@ramonchancay.me or messaging on WhatsApp with a brief on what you want to build. From there: a short call to clarify scope and goals, a written proposal with milestones and timeline, then iterative delivery with frequent check-ins so you see progress early and often. Ramón works directly with whoever owns the product, which keeps feedback loops short and avoids handoffs.

10

Do you take on long-term work or only one-off projects?

Both. Ramón takes on focused one-off builds (an MVP, an AI feature, a launch) as well as long-term, ongoing engagements as an embedded full-stack developer. His 100% Job Success on Upwork comes largely from long-running client relationships, and he is currently available for new long-term work.

When you need judgment,
not just code.

More than a decade shipping product across web, mobile and AI left me something more valuable than a stack: judgment. If your team is stuck on a technical decision, evaluating a stack, or wants a second opinion before sinking months into a direction — let's talk.
